Horror fans have a March date for the diary. Screams By The Sea returns to Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 March 2027, with an expanded programme bringing independent films, filmmaker conversations and a new media lounge to the coast.

The festival champions emerging filmmakers from around the world, with a remit stretching beyond horror into thrillers, science fiction and dark fantasy. For audiences, it is a chance to explore independent cinema and meet some of the people behind the stories.

What’s planned for the weekend?

The 2027 programme will include six feature films and three hours of international shorts, alongside live filmmaker Q&As. The full film programme and guest line-up are due to be announced in January 2027.

A new media lounge, created with festival media partner Love Horror, will host live interviews, podcasts and networking. There will also be a dedicated horror shopping zone, giving visitors something else to explore between screenings.

The festival’s screenwriting competition returns too, with four shortlisted writers invited to pitch their feature film ideas to the festival audience before one receives the Best Screenplay award. It adds a different perspective to the weekend: a chance to hear a story being presented before it reaches the screen.

What do the passes include?

The festival’s latest announcement advertises limited VIP Festival Passes at £65, including access across both days and priority entry. With the programme still to come, the individual films and guests will be the next announcements to watch.

Screams By The Sea takes place at Pavilion Dance South West, Westover Road, Bournemouth, BH1 2BU. Visit the festival booking page for current pass availability, pricing and full ticket terms.
